I've been meaning to read Beloved, as well, but I'm pretty sure that's one of the books my professor is assigning for my African-American lit class this coming fall.

Hmm, quite a few staples of mine up there! I still can't let go of The Hobbit - considering Lord of the Rings without it is like having butter, but no bread!

I'm casting my eyes down in shame over Strange and Norrell though - I sense it is an epic, yet cannot quite get to grips with it. I suspect that is more indicative of my short attention span of late, rather than the majesty of the tome!

Otherwise, great books, great taste!

Dear natalia. My fave Kate Atkinson novel is Behind the Scenes at the Museum. The end of the novel when the mystery falls into place brings tears to my eyes every time.

I also loved Jonathan Strage and Mr Norrell. I had no expectations and I just couldn't put it down.
