However, the greedy and materialistic ritual that is the Modern Christmas does nauseate me. I’m not a joiner and I can’t abide this pressure to party for 2 weeks straight ‘just because’.

I am not Christian (I’m Pagan and Celebrate Yule on the 21st), but I still think the ethos of Christmas is a good thing – sharing food and company with people you love. We all buy so much during the year that I would be happy not to get any presents and just spend time with my parents going out for walks and what-have-you.
