Don’t agree with ‘em all, but no duds and lots of serious stuff that I haven’t seen (a la Russian Ark). Of the ones I’ve seen: I thought 40-y-o Virgin was funny but also about 40 minutes too long, which is way too too-long; 28 Days Later was great, and definitely better than Slumdog Oscar Bait; FotR was the best of the trilogy, nice call; Lost in Translation was OK, not sure why I didn’t like it more; Crouching Tiger was terrific.

Kind of like – I don’t begrudge people “Enemy at the Gates,” a movie I have my own weird relationship with. I was fucking offended as hell when I first saw it, but I also realize why people love it.

I’ve actually seen only one of the movies on the list (FoTR) — i’m not a big moviegoer at all and i hate how USian movie houses have been wrecked by the entertainment-industrial complex and won’t go anymore. You have whetted my appetite for all the other nine (tho i’m not sure about Brotherhood). Ima see if iTunes has them for rent or purchase.

And then there is the way that the Japanese see Bill Murray specifically. Remember when he’s at the hospital, and these two ladies are laughing at him? I thought that was cool.

Sunshine was cool, actually. I didn’t really get it at first. It was all about suicide. It got to me. :)

Crouching Tiger nearly made my list but Lost In Translation is borderline racist in my opinion. 28 Days was high up but I think I prefer Sunshine.
