That Kyiv is undergoing the same changes that Moscow did about 7 – 8 years ago, and this is probably true. Although there is something about Kyiv, some burnished, fuzzy softness, an air of (deceptive?) calm, that I don’t want it to ever lose. People are always saying that “things were better two years ago,” though, and I’m sure they’ll say it two years in the future.
Is saying that (that Kyiv is going through the same changes Moscow did 7-8 years ago) a good thing? Or is there a general consensus that Moscow is now a worse place to live/visit?
I think it’s both, really. As in, better and worse. It’s like, the more things improve the more they stay the same.
of course Moscow is “worse”! Everyone I know that lived there (expats) talk bad about it, complained about attitude, prices, etc, etc. I hope Kyiv will be a bit more original in its gentrification.
