Lovely to have a shout on your blog, but the real question is: do you actually agree with me about the whole drinking thing? I’ve simplified it to the point of caricature really I reckon, but what the heck, it packs a nice punch.
I got through 20 pages of Simmons and stopped bothering….
I’ve only been to Britain twice… So I can’t tell for certain. But this seems very plausible, even if it is a (clever) caricature.
*Grins* well, technically I meant the Russian side of things although I am now quaking in fear that I have committed one of those socialisms. In this case the one where I use ‘Ukranian-American’ interchangably for ‘Russian’.
Natalia – you might be right about the Wolfe! Well, if you look at the book as a piece of realism, then you have to wonder whether he’s lost the plot, but if you take it as a piece of provocative, twisted propaganda, then it becomes rather interesting. But you know I have great respect for your readings!
