I love Casillas – and hate my life

Germany ALWAYS does this to me. They did this to me in 2002, and they did it to me now. On purpose.

Iker Casillas was the only reason the final was even watchable.

  1. Viva Espana!

If it makes you feel better, I change allegiances every day. Today I’m in Barcelona.

  2. …not that Casillas had a lot of work to do in the final game. 🙄

I must admit, I don’t have a lot of sympathy for the German team’s loss – they simply didn’t play well enough to deserve the title! The better team definitely won.

  3. Hi, coming to this from seeing your work on Feministe. And always appreciative of a raving soccer fan.

As a die-hard Germany fan (I’m a U.S. citizen but my loyalties always lie with German soccer having grown up there for many years), it was painful for me to watch them stumble their way through the entire European Cup and then, just when you think they can pull off one last stumble, come up entirely too short. But it was a raucous good time, nonetheless. And at least they played like champions when they showed Portugal the door. That made me smile.
